In these days of massive censorship, this is wise, even if you normally consume The Worthy House on some other platform. You can subscribe to writings published in The Worthy House. The story has an arc, from Rico’s signing up, through training, ending in a climactic battle scene, but all of it is mere backdrop to Heinlein’s political thoughts. The Navy ships infantrymen to other planets the men drop from space, emerge in armor from their capsules, and kill Bugs (or, in the opening scene, terrorize a city on a planet allied to the Bugs). He fights in the Mobile Infantry, whose task is to defeat enemies in much the same way as any army of the 1950s, but fighting in a tremendously powerful armored exoskeleton. Simply killing the aliens, the Bugs, is the frame of the book, as seen in flashbacks narrated by the protagonist, the soldier Juan Rico. Unlike in that other book, here there is no introspection about the enemy and its motivations and emotions.
As in Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, another classic science fiction book, the enemy is insectoid aliens. While I’m interested in the franchise today, and its relationship to aristocracy and hierarchy, I’m equally interested in secondary aspects of the book, in particular what the role of women should be, if any, in the military. His main goal is to attack universal suffrage as stupid, which is true enough, although his proposed alternative is too artificial. This book is Heinlein’s vehicle to explain who he thinks should rule a society and what principles should inform that ruling class’s actions. Heinlein therefore often swerves dangerously close to message fiction, but it never becomes intolerable. As with most Robert Heinlein novels, the point is more the ideas than plot or character. Besides the sound effects your soldiers all have a voice to confirm your orders.Starship Troopers, sixty years old, is a famous work of science fiction. The cutscenes are made with the in-game graphic. Much better is the combat graphic and the explosions. The graphic of the landscape is low on details, everything looks post apocalyptic. Another aspect of the RPG part is that you can equip each of your soldiers individual with up to two different weapons and two tech-items (like bombs or toxic gas).

Besides the experience points you gather upgrade points for your equipment for e.g. The basic soldier (called Cat Trooper) have no armor and is an easy prey for the bugs. Better battle suits (armor) and stronger weapons are only available for soldiers with high ranks. By and by the soldiers increase their states and acquire higher ranks. Surviving soldiers gain experience points for each killed bug / destroyed bug holes. From simple hunting missions up to escorts or the capturing of bugs. The mission objectives are also different. There is a wide range of enemies, from simple close-range fighters to suicide units, artillery bugs and even human soldiers. The enemy units are not very intelligent, but they use their own special abilities like splitting acid and are very powerful. During a mission there is no reinforcement and you are outnumbered by the bugs. Each squad contains a leader, five soldiers and one specialist (medic, engineer, PSI for detecting hidden bugs, MIST-Trooper as a sniper). Instead you lead up to three squads into combat. This is one of the few strategy games where you cannot build a base and recruit units. Both, the game and the movie, are based upon the novel by Robert A.
